Shadow Education Secretary visits
Colchester primary school

Shadow Education Secretary Ed Balls MP has been in Colchester today, as part of his Labour Leadership campaign.

Mr Balls spent the afternoon at St Johns Green Primary School in Colchester town centre as part of a wider tour of the East of England which also took in Sudbury and Ipswich. The former Cabinet Minister is the first of Labour’s leadership contenders to visit Colchester.

Welcoming the visit, Colchester Labour Party Chairman, Jordan Newell said:

It is great that Ed Balls is coming to Colchester, and I am particularly pleased that he will be visiting one of our local schools.  It is easy to forget that schools could not even repair leaking roofs and cracked windows when Labour came to power in 1997.  We should be very proud of all that has been done to provide first class facilities for both students and staff".

Mr Balls is among five candidates for the Labour Leadership, the others are David Miliand, Andy Burnham, Ed Miliband and Diane Abbott.
