Jordan's Election Message
| |
Whether it's our new Primary Care Centre, the new buildings Colchester Sixth Form or the £500 million redevelopment of Colchester Garrison - Colchester has changed for the better thanks to Labour. I am proud that Labour introduced the first national minimum wage, the Winter Fuel Allowance, Tax Credits and Free Bus Passes. Our NHS has seen record investment that has brought waiting lists down and a dramatic reduction in deaths from cancer and heart disease. Labour is securing our economic recovery, while protecting frontline public services and standing up for the hard working majority of people across the country. I am passionate about the local issues that affect us all in Colchester and I want to be Colchester’s voice in Westminster, not Westminster’s man in Colchester. I want to talk positively about our town, not talk down every proposal or scheme that could benefit our community. It’s time to champion our achievements, as well as objectively raising local concerns. I will work for a stronger Colchester - listening to residents and working together for our community. This includes making sure we celebrate our heritage and diversity and working to support the men and women of our armed forces community. Building a safer Colchester is also a top priority. By working with the police and other public agencies, we can continue to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour and support the many positive local initiatives that are keeping our residents and communities safe and has lead to a 9.1% reduction in crime across our town. I think these are just some of the reasons to vote Labour on May 6th, but you can also read about the people backing me in this election. I want to see a future, fair for all. If you feel that same, then that is just one reason why you should vote Labour."
