Committed to all the people of our town
Colchester Labour Party held its Annual General Meeting on Thursday (21 June).
A large group of local members gathered at the Hythe Community Centre to discussion the Party’s activities over the last year and to formal elections to the Executive Committee.
Outgoing Colchester Labour Chair Jordan Newell was re-elected, unanimously and unopposed, to the post for a third term.
Also re-elected were local councillors Julie Young and Dave Harris, who retain their positions as Vice Chair and Treasurer respectively. Local Labour activist Mark Bryan was elected as the constituency’s new Secretary.
Speaking after his re-election, Jordan Newell said:
“Our annual meetings get bigger and bigger each year and once again we were pleased to welcome some of our new members. Of course, I am personally very pleased to have been re-elected and that members felt confident to place their trust in my for a third year running.”
After the formal business was concluded, the meeting debated several local and national issues, including the Party’s recent performance in May’s Local Elections. There was also a preview of the coming year’s events, including more social evenings and guest speaker talks.
