Committed to all the people of our town
Colchester Labour Party Chairman Jordan Newell joined volunteers for a night shift on Colchester’s SOS Bus this weekend.
Mr Newell took part in the Saturday night shift on Colchester High Street, to see the work of the project at first hand and to see how staff and volunteers were helping to reduce the negative impact of the night time economy on the town.
Jordan Newell said:
“The SOS Bus is a prime example of our community working together to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and provides a much needed resource to support people visiting, living and working in Colchester.”
The SOS Bus recently issued an appeal for additional financial support to make up for a short fall in its funding. Colchester Labour Party has always supported the project and welcomes the continued support of the project by Colchester Borough Council and local NHS providers.
“I have always been impressed by the professionalism, commitment and dedication of the staff and volunteers involved in the SOS Bus project. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting them tonight, and helping out where I could. They really are an exemplary team and a model of community safety working," Jordan said.
