Colchester Labour Councillors are to remain part of Colchester Council’s power-sharing Cabinet after a week of tough negotiations. The coalition talks between Labour, the Liberal Democrats and the Highwoods Independent Group were successfully concluded earlier this week.
Labour retains its two seats on the Council’s Cabinet. Labour Group Leader Cllr Tim Young retains his position as Cabinet Member for Community Safety, but adds Culture to his portfolio. Labour Group Deputy Leader Cllr Tina Dopson moves to the Housing brief.
Colchester Labour Chair Jordan Newell said:
“I am delighted that Colchester's Cabinet negotiations have been successfully concluded, with Labour retaining its positions in the power-sharing administration. It has been a tough week of negotiations, but the work now starts to make sure we deliver a Fair Deal for Colchester”
