Committed to all the people of our town
Shadow Cabinet Minister Lord Bassam made a return visit to Colchester today (27 April) to campaign with Colchester Labour Party ahead of next week's Local Elections.
Lord Bassam, who is Labour's Chief Whip in the House of Lords, started his visit in Rowhedge where he spent an hour on the door steps campaigning with local Labour Cllr Mike Lilley as part of his re-election campaign in the East Doneyland ward.
Before joining Cllr Tina Dopson for a campaign session in St Andrew's ward, Lord Bassam - who grew up in Great Bentley and went to college in Colchester - dropped in on his half-sister, Joy, who lives in Greenstead.
Former Home Office Minister Lord Bassam previously visited Colchester in January this year and expressed a wish to come back to the town to support the local Labour Party's activities.
