Labour's 2010 Local Election Manifesto

Labour's programme for continue
putting people first in Colchester

Since May 2008 Labour has been a fundamental part of the administration running Colchester Borough Council.

During that time, and despite the recession, Colchester has become cleaner, safer and more attractive.  Labour values and principles have ensured that the council’s priorities have matched those of local residents.

More has been done to keep our streets safe and clean. There has been more investment in tackling crime and anti-social behaviour and there has been greater focus on improving waste collection and increasing recycling levels.  We have delivered better partnership working leading to improvements in services for everyone but especially younger people and the elderly and Labour has provided the genuine commitment to protect front line services and deliver real value for money.

It is absolutely vital that Labour retains power in Colchester.

The Tories would take us back to an era that many would rather forget.  They have tried to convince people that they have changed but, scratch the surface just a little, and you will find the same old Tories proposing the same old failed agenda of privatisation, job cuts and service reductions.
